Academics

We take pride in our strong academic reputation. This page allows us to give you a basic overview our academic curriculum. We use a combination of three curriculums: Our World of Learning, The Creative Curriculum and The Letter People. Our World of Learning is a state approved curriculum, which addresses the developmental domains of preschool children. This curriculum was designed to work hand in hand with Foundations: Early Learning Standards for North Carolina Preschoolers and Strategies for Guiding Their Success. Foundations is a collaborative effort between the Department of Public Instruction and the Division of Child Development.  The Creative Curriculum approach balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning that fosters a child's development in the four developmental domains:social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language. The Letter People lays a firm foundation in the skills necessary for successful reading and writing.

CURRICULUM

St. James School for Little Folks is dedicated to providing a school-like experience for your child. We use a combination of three programs to ensure that your child is prepared for their “ Big School” experience when the time comes.

Our programs consist of meeting social, academic and Christian value goals with each of our students. As part of this curriculum, we have a short 15-minute church service weekly. This service is developmentally appropriate and includes singing and celebrating life and love. It focuses on good Christian values and morals taught through Bible stories and activities. The School for Little Folks accepts enrollment of children from all religions, religious denominations and non-religious families. However, attendance at the weekly church service –general in nature- and Christian activities within the classroom is a requirement for all children enrolled at our facility. Participation in the service itself or classroom activities is voluntary.
